Moving Truck Rental - How to Rent a Moving Truck in 4 Easy Steps

The moving truck rental is going to be one of the most critical tasks you'll need to accomplish if you're moving yourself. If you're not careful, it can also be time-consuming, stressful, and expensive. Fortunately, it doesn't have to be that way. With the tips in this article, you should be able to make things easier on yourself.

Moving Truck Rental: Step 1- Determine days you can move.

Having a larger number of potential days available for your move gives you many more options. The day you pick can determine not only whether a truck is available, but how much you'll be charged. Here are the guidelines:

  • Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekends are the hardest and most expensive times to rent. You typically need to book these months in advance.
  • Weekends are more difficult to book than weekdays.
  • The middle weeks of the month are easier to reserve than the first and last weeks.
Moving Truck Rental: Step 2- Identify how large a truck you want.

There are a few factors you should consider in determining the truck size you'll need:

  • the quantity of boxes and furniture you need to move
  • the availability and prices of trucks on your moving day ·your comfort level with driving very large vehicles (don't underestimate this one)
Trucks range in size from 10 feet (ideal for a 1-bedroom apartment) up to 26 feet (can handle up to a 4-bedroom house). Avoid the temptation to get a size larger than you need. Most rental agencies can help you determine the ideal size.

Moving Truck Rental: Step 3- Select your rental agency.

Three of the most common names for truck rentals are Budget Truck Rental, U-Haul, and Penske. Some car rental firms, such as Enterprise, offer large vans or trucks in specific locations. Make a short list of rental locations close to you. Then call and find out:

  • which trucks they have available on your intended moving days
  • which payment options are accepted, especially if you're planning on using anything other than a certified check or money order (many individual locations do not accept cards like American Express or Discover, and some don't accept credit cards at all)
  • operating hours, including the time when the truck needs to be returned before being charged extra ·whether they offer "one-way" rentals, if that's something you need
  • initial deposit(s)
  • base rate per day and/or hour
  • charge per mile (watch out for this one- many companies offer a low daily rate but charge a fortune for the miles)
  • cost for gas
  • additional fees for insurance, moving pads, hand truck, twine, etc.
  • any other charges (be polite, persistent and direct in making sure they have provided with ALL the costs. You might want to try a phrase such as, "So if I show up with only that exact amount, down to the penny, in my pocket, I will be able to pay the bill in full?")
Now that you have all the critical information, determine which truck option most closely meets your needs and budget. Once you've made your decision, you need to make your reservation, and sooner rather than later. This is especially true if your desired date is over a weekend or a holiday, in that those slots fill up first.

Moving Truck Rental: Step 4- The Big Day

  • Plan to be in line at the rental truck location at least 15 minutes before they open, in that the paperwork portion of the transaction can sometimes be lengthy, and if only a few people are in line in front of you, you could be in for quite a wait.
  • It's also a good idea to take a copy of your insurance card with you if you normally keep it in your car- you don't want to have to fool with a fine from a traffic officer.
  • Be sure to check the truck thoroughly for damage prior to signing the final contract, and mark any damage on the appropriate form.
  • Finally, try out driving the truck around the parking lot before heading out to make sure you can adequately control the vehicle. If there's an issue, you'll want to know before getting into traffic.
Once these steps are done, you should be on your way to a smooth moving truck rental experience!

Why You Need to Choose Your Transport Provider With Care?

Cargo transportation is not about moving cargo from point A to point B. In fact, it is much more than that. If you want to move cargo, you should not be looking to see the most convenient way of transporting the cargo. Rather you should be concentrating on pay for a service because the logistics part of transportation is one of the most important parts of transporting cargo.

If you are looking to have your cargo delivered on time, safe and sound, you should be approaching a logistics company. Usually a logistics company is specialized in offering this service and it is well equipped to handle all the documentation required to transport goods across international and national borders. In addition, a logistics company will also be able to tell you what type of transportation is required for a particular type of cargo.

In addition, you will be able to get cargo insurance, which is optional, track the movement of the goods and even avail of the storage facility offered by the company should you need it.

Remember transportation can be international, long distance or local delivery. Not all transport companies are equipped to handle all types of transportation. That is why you need to choose your service provider with care.

International transportation requires customs documentation and inspection. Customs clearance will depend on your choice of service provider and this in turn will affect your delivery time either positively or negatively.

In addition, cargo transportation can be inter-modal where the cargo has to transported using different means or vehicles and will involve unloading and reloading of the goods. If your service provider is good, then you may escape with minimum or no damage of goods.

Cargo transportation may seem very trivial but if you want to attain customer satisfaction or customer delight, you should be paying more attention to selecting the right type of transport service provider for your business needs. It can make all the difference in meeting your delivery deadlines, reducing your costs and earning repeat orders from a customer.

The Benefits of Auto Transport Services

Even with the best roads and weather conditions imaginable, long-distance traveling can really put a lot of wear and tear on your car. For example, in addition to the extra miles that get put on your vehicle, everything from your breaks and your tires to your engine and your radio are going to get a pretty hefty workout if you are driving across the country. Then, when you think about the long hours you will spend driving, poor weather, and other natural hazards of a long journey, it is easy to see why personal owners as well as dealerships are willing to employ auto transport companies to move their car from one destination to another.

There are a lot of benefits that come from using an auto transport company to move your car rather than driving it to a new destination yourself.

First, since your car doesn't have to do any of the work to get from one place to another, it also avoids all the wear and tear discussed earlier.

Second, with someone else moving the car, you don't have to spend the time or energy required for driving either. Instead, you can take a plane, a bus, a train or some other form of transportation to reach your destination so that you can just sit back and enjoy the ride or use your time on other things like reading or working.

And third, auto transport services are some of the most reliable and safe ways to move your vehicle. After all, most auto transport companies are fully insured so that their customers can rest easy while their vehicle is on the road and they can deliver your car exactly where you want it and when you want it.

So whether you own antique vehicles, dealership models, or a regular car that you want to keep as safe as possible, look into hiring an auto transport company that serves all forty-eight continental United States. Just be sure to check on their experience, services, and insurance before you book a trip.

Reliable Carrier (http://www.reliablecarcarrier.com) is as trustworthy as their name implies. So, if you are looking for a convenient, fast, and affordable auto transport service, just give them a call. Billings Farnsworth is a freelance writer.

Moving Truck Rentals

Moving trucks can be hired if you are planning to move from one street to another or one state to another. These trucks will help you moving all or part of your furniture. Depending on how much furniture and equipment you need moved, you could decide how much time you need the services of the truck and then rent it accordingly. Most companies prefer that you rent a truck for the entire day.

If you use the services of a moving company that provides a van and men to do the movies, they do not cater to you alone. They may accept several moving assignments in one day, and transport stuff according to a pre-decided itinerary. However, they select assignments within the same neighborhood to add convenience and save time. These trucks move from one house to another, picking equipment and filling their trawlers using forklifts or dollies. Then they move on to new destinations, dropping off the contents of the truck at designated locations. It sometimes takes a while to get your merchandise. You can pay more and have the company only move your contents, but it will cost double.

If you pack boxes yourself, you'll also save money. Just make sure you do it professionally, as things tend to break when being transported. An advantage to packing things yourself is that you will know what is in each box.

Once the packing is done and the truck arrives, the boxes can be placed putting heavier objects near the back and lighter objects to the front for weight distribution. Payment is usually made in advance and it is a good idea to tip the workers.

History of Removal Transport

The removal truck is the latest incarnation of removal methods used down the ages by people to transport their possessions from their current abode to their new home. Below is a history of the types of transport that has been used through the ages for the purposes of home removal. The methods of transport are in chronological order, starting with the earliest human movements, going right up to the present day.

Human movement – The earliest human descendents (Neolithic man) would have been nomadic hunter-gatherers who would have frequently moved from place to place. The earliest type of transportation system for them would have been simply carrying what possessions they had (animal skins, tools, food). The next stage of removal transport would have been the horse:

Animal transportation - The domestication of the horse, oxen and donkeys would have facilitated a much greater potential for moving larger amounts of goods. Shelters, built with wood, mud, and grass could be dismantled and built up once a family of group decided to move on, perhaps following cattle. Animal drawn wheeled vehicles probably first developed in Sumer in the ancient near east in the 4th and 5th millennium BCE and spread to Europe and India in the 4th Millennium BCE and China in about 1200 BCE.

Boats – The earliest boats were dug out canoes. People lit a fire on a big log then put it out and dug out the burned wood. About 3100 BCE the Egyptians invented the sailing boat. They were made of bundles of papyrus reeds reeds tied together. They had simple square sails made of sheets of papyrus. However the sail could be used when sailing in one direction. When travelling against the wind the boat had to be sailed. Boats would have enabled the early civilisations to move large distances relatively easily, making migration more likely.

Rail transport – The history of rail transportation dates back nearly 500 years and includes systems with man or horse power and rails of wood. Modern rail transport first appeared in England in the 1820’s. These systems, which made use of the steam locomotive, was the first practical form of mechanized land transport, and they remained the primary form of mechanised land transport for the next 100 years. The upper classes in the UK would have been the first to utilise the new trains when the appeared in England in the 1820’s; they would have used them to move home between the major cities.

Road transport – Today, the German engineer Carl Benz is referred to as the inventor of the modern automobile. Automobiles capable of human transport have been demonstrated as early as 1769. Fuel gas powered internal combustion engines first appeared in 1806, while 1885 marker the introduction of petrol-fuelled internal combustion engines. In 1900 Henry Ford built his 3rd vehicle – a truck. At least some of these earliest trucks would have used for removal purposes. All modern removal lorries can trace their heritage back to this first Ford lorry.

So you can see that the history of removal transport is a long and interesting one. Its interesting to note that for the vast majority of man’s history the dominant form of transport was either human or animal. Its only in the last 100 years or so that man has taken possession of his most popular current removal method – the removal lorry.
