Make Up School - Tips For the Woman Who Can't Afford Make Up School

When it comes to the best make up school, you need not look any further than your own home. Depending on how old the student is, mom can be the professor. Some of my most cherished memories of my mother are the times that she would show me how to put on make up. She's the one who taught me that foundation goes on before eyeshadow and to save the mascara for last. She also was a fairly objective judge, and never let me leave the house with a clown face. My mother also taught me that if you're going to wear bright lipstick, you should tone down the eyes. Conversely, if you're going to wear a lot of eyeshadow, a dramatic lip isn't something you want to go with.

I definitely learned a lot from my mom when it comes to putting on make up, but where did she learn it? Her mother died when she was too young to wear any, and I was always kind of curious as to which make up school she went to. I asked her one day, and she told me that she learned everything she knew from fashion magazines. They would show her which brushes to use for face powder, eyeliner and which work best for applying eyeshadow. In turn, she passed along that information to me.

I decided to look into her "alma mater", and in the process found out that magazines are indeed a decent alternative to make up school. The people who write the articles are experts in the field. Depending on which one you choose to read, you can even get the dos and don'ts of applying various forms of make up. You get all of this for the price of a subscription or two, which usually runs around $12 per year per magazine. It's a pretty sweet deal, if you ask me.

Finding the Right Ayurveda Spa

When you make the choice that you want to bring your body to a new level using the joys of Ayurvedic treatment, the next challenge is finding a place to go. Most people will be able to find a typical massage parlor or a normal spa much easier than they will be able to find an Ayurveda spa. That does not mean that these places are hiding, though. In fact, as Ayurvedic massages become more and more popular around the world, these places are becoming much more prevalent. It might take a little bit of looking around before you can locate some of the Ayurveda resorts out there, but the hard search will be worth your time in the long run.

The best place to find a great Ayurveda spa, of course, is India. This treatment comes from India and many of the best practitioners are located in the country. As you might see tons of regular spas in the United States, you will see tons of Ayurveda spas on the other side of the world. That doesn't mean that you have to be in India to find one of these spots, though. In fact, there is probably one closer to your home than you think.

The bigger question than location, though, is what to look for in an Ayurveda spa. The majority of these places will offer all sorts of Ayurvedic treatment in an attempt to get you to a place of Panchakarma. As with most things, some are better than others, though. The internet has changed and completely revolutionized the way consumers shop for things. Now, you don't have to go into a place blind and with no knowledge of their working practices. You can get reviews of each of these places with a quick search on the internet. Their ability to apply Ayurveda principles should be your chief concern.

When you are choosing an Ayurveda spa, you are going to want to completely immerse yourself in the experience. The only way to truly help your body recover and maintain a high level is to go all out. Don't try to find a place that is more like a typical massage parlor than it is an Ayurvedic massage stop. In the long run, you will be pleased that put your body through such an enlightening experience, and your once tired muscles will thank you for expanding your horizons.

Theatrical Makeup for the Theatre Buff

Actors and actresses can really light up a stage, but theatrical makeup helps bring their characters alive. Theater makeup helps the audience see the character. For example, it's much easier to believe someone is an evil witch if they have on makeup that makes them look like a witch.

It's also used to help the audience literally see the actors. Bright makeup that's applied generously all over the face helps highlight the actors' features. This allows audience members who are sitting in the back of the play house to see the actors. This is why both men and women wear makeup when they're acting on stage. From a distance, it doesn't look like these actors have on much makeup. However, if you see them off-stage, it's extremely evident that they have on tons of makeup.

Making Makeup Part of You...Literally

When we think of theatrical makeup we tend to think of standard makeup - blush, eye shadow, eye liner and lipstick. However, makeup for the theater includes all kinds of fun stuff such as fake teeth, blood and fangs. Many theatre troops, especially those who make their way to Broadway, go well beyond blush and mascara to make their performances pop.

Adding fake warts and scars to a witch's face makes her much more heinous then slapping some green eye shadow on her face. Adding a fake nose, which, when applied correctly actually looks quite real, can be even more effective. When someone is hurt in a play, it's much more realistic to see blood pool out of their body than just see them fall to the floor. This can be achieved by using theatrical makeup that includes blood. Fake horns are a great effect for mystical creatures. When this type of body makeup is applied to actors, it makes them look inhuman.

Theater makeup can also be used to change certain features on an actor. For example, if an actress acting as a princess needs to have big, arched eyebrows, the makeup artist can cover their real eyebrows and draw some eyebrows above their existing ones. While the actress still looks human, this can dramatically change her features.

The greatest thing about theatrical makeup is that it can really help the actors transport the audience to a different world.

"Many young women want the self-confidence that learning how to apply their makeup will give them - whether they wish to create a fresh, natural look or all-out red carpet glamour for a big night on stage. Mastering their makeup abilities can be especially important to contestants preparing for beauty pageants, giving them extra confidence when presenting themselves to the judges," says Jennifer Kalman, Commercial Makeup Artist.

Some beauty pageants do not have access to a professional makeup artist, therefore each contestant is responsible for applying her makeup suitable for her age and outfit. But how to achieve professional results without professional guidance? One online makeup resource is especially useful for pageant contestants, showing how to:

- Select lip, eye and cheek colors to coordinate with the colors they are wearing...avoid makeup colors that clash with the dress.
- Find highly-pigmented makeup color products that are 'camera ready' for stage, photos and videos...avoid 'washed-out' photos!
- Locate and print online how-to-apply makeup tips, techniques and directions to use as a reference guide during makeup application
- Skillfully blend eye shadows to enlarge, contour and brighten the eyes
- Apply false eyelashes
- Define and add fullness to the lips
- Find help from a professional makeup artist if they have a specific makeup question.

The solution is an online makeup resource for pageant contestants interested in refining their makeup skills! This online resource shows specially-selected makeup tones to match their dress, identifying high-pigment lip, eye and cheek color products, all shown in a fresh Natural Look or a glamorous Dramatic Look. The packages are complete with illustrations showing where to apply the high-pigment makeup colors and how to blend them. On the site, pageant contestants can also join the "Make Me Dazzle" club to gain special website access to advanced makeup tips, techniques and instruction to help them showcase their beauty! This online resource is similar to having your own personalized makeup lesson with a professional makeup artist!
