Your wedding day is the most important day of your life. Bar none. So why leave it to chance that it will not be remembered? Make SURE you have the right photographer. A few things may be a determining factor to whether or not you should hire someone. How much will it cost? Are they going to be better than just a family member? When will I get my pictures back?
Cost is always a determining factor for most people planning a wedding. They are usually budget minded and are looking only to save money in every aspect. But one place you should make sure not to fall short on is the photographer. As hard as it may be, the price you pay to your photographer can tell you how good the prints are going to be.
Quality is also a huge issue. When choosing your photographer make sure you have looked at their portfolio. Not just for how many weddings they have done, but the quality of the shots they have. Are they just shots like your mother would take with her $150 camera? Is it something you could have had your nephew do for free? If the answer is yes, then it might be time to look for a different photographer. Look for images with unique angles, great color (even black and white images), and over all ability to make every shot count.
The last thing that you may not be thinking of while researching for a photographer, is when will you get your images back? There are many photographers out there who will not give your images to you until over a year after the wedding. This is so that they can create another line of revenue for themselves. These photographers probably have a website set up where for the first year you and family members can proof and purchase the images online. You have already spent a ton of money for the photographer, why should you pay more for images which are rightfully yours!?
So be careful out there. There are lots of choices so be sure to make the right one. Spend the money if you need to. Its okay. It is YOUR wedding day.
