Make Better Gift Baskets That Really Sell

Successful gift basket businesses make gift baskets and hampers, that really sell - quickly. To do this they create well presented products that satisfy the desires of the target audience and are priced appropriately for the demographic area the business is operating in.

Here are a seven simple tips to create more presentation wow without the expense.

  1. Boring wicker baskets are very cheap and can easily be made to have a much better visual impact with a can of non toxic paint. Easily create striking colours or bright golds - without the cost of more expensive packaging.
  2. Use butchers paper or packing paper to fill the baskets opening rather than newspaper. It gives a more professional impression when the recipient unpacks the basket and does not have any ink transfer. It's also stiffer so holds its volume for longer.
  3. Instant gratification items are the most popular - those that can be opened and eaten immediately - such as chocolates, cookies, nuts, popcorn, pretzels, cheese, crackers, potato crisps, jams, tea and coffee.
  4. When supporting heavy or long items, hide the support skewers from view by placing double sided tape over the skewer and pressing shred onto the tape.
  5. Use embellishments such as picks and ting ting sparingly - but do use them. These finishing touches often make the finished item appear professional rather than amateur.
  6. If you have time set your finished basket away for half an hour and come back to it to wrap. You'll often be surprised how good it looks, and if there are any areas that need improvement, you will be more likely to see them.
  7. When stuck for inspiration - try themes. You can experiment with varieties of foods or drinks such as chocolate baskets, tea baskets or a range of items from one manufacturer. You can also choose themes by colour or subject such as a sport. Golf packs are a common favourite.

Keeping these straight forward tips in mind when creating gift baskets will produce a positive difference in their presentation and their sales.
